September is nationally recognized as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, Suicide Prevention Week (September 8-14, 2024) and World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10, 2024. This month is a time when individuals and organizations around the state and country join their voices to broadcast the message that everyone can take action for suicide prevention.
Take Action for Mental Health, California's statewide campaign, has announced this year’s theme for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month is “Love Over Loneliness.” This theme reminds us that we can make a big difference for our community simply by recognizing when someone is lonely and reaching out to them. By building strong connections and supporting each other, we can make others feel valued and cared for. Together, we can help prevent suicide with the power of love and connection.
Join us for Suicide Prevention Week/Month 2024 Activities and Events
We hope you join us, as well as individuals and organizations throughout the month in sharing hope, stories, time, knowledge, resources, or experiences, as they can serve as a powerful tool in suicide prevention!
Some ways in which you could get involved include:
- Share the Tri-City Suicide Prevention Month Activity Calendar with friends, family, colleagues, and throughout the community
- Utilize the Suicide Prevention Week Activation Kit
- Share suicide prevention social media posts and captions
- Attend one of our in-person or virtual events focused on increasing knowledge about suicide prevention, practicing self-care, and learning more about the importance of social connections
