About the Training

Gain the skills to recognize when someone is facing mental health or substance use challenges — and the confidence to be their first source of support. In this full-day training, you’ll learn how to help people ages 18 and older. Topics include anxiety, depression, psychosis and substance use.

What You Will Learn:

  • Understand the impact of early intervention.
  • Recognize signs and symptoms with skills-based scenarios.
  • Use a 5-step action plan on how to assist someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
  • Ensure safety and privacy during conversations. 
  • Earn a 3-year Mental Health First Aid certification upon completion. 

This training is available at no cost to residents, service providers, community groups and organizations in Pomona, Claremont and La Verne. Registration is required.
